ACEN Corp. is ramping up investments in its renewable energy pipeline after extending up to ₱3.85 billion in short-term loans to two wholly owned subsidiaries developing major wind and battery storage projects in Quezon and Zambales.

In separate disclosures to the Philippine Stock Exchange, the Ayala-led energy company said it signed a short-term loan agreement worth up to ₱3 billion with Giga Ace 6 Inc., the project company behind the 344.5-megawatt (MW) Quezon North Wind Power Project.

ACEN also extended up to ₱850 million to Palauig Solar 1 Inc. for the development of a battery energy storage system (BESS) facility in Zambales.

Funding Support For Quezon Wind Project

The Quezon North Wind Power Project, located in the municipalities of Real and Mauban in Quezon province, forms part of ACEN’s expanding renewable energy portfolio and is considered one of the company’s major developments targeted for completion over the next few years.

The project is the first phase of the larger Quezon North Onshore Wind Project, which spans parts of Quezon and Laguna provinces, including the municipalities of Paete and Kalayaan. The first phase has a generating capacity of 344.5 MW and is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of the year, while a second phase with an additional 208 MW is targeted for completion by 2027.

ACEN had previously infused ₱900 million into Giga Ace 6 in October 2025 to support the development of the wind facility.

The company earlier said the Quezon wind farm is among the renewable energy projects lined up for completion next year, alongside the third phase of its solar farm in San Marcelino, Zambales. ACEN has allocated around ₱80 billion in capital expenditures to fund key renewable energy projects in the Philippines.

Battery Storage Expansion In Zambales

Apart from the wind project, ACEN is also increasing investments in battery storage technologies through the Palauig 1 BESS Project.

The planned facility will have a capacity of 35 MW or 140 megawatt-hours and will be located beside the existing 63-MW direct current Palauig Solar 1 plant in Barangays Salaza and Cauayan in Palauig, Zambales. The storage system will be integrated with the solar facility to improve grid stability and optimize renewable energy output.

ACEN said battery storage projects will account for a large portion of the roughly 1,000 MW worth of energy projects that the company plans to complete or begin constructing this year.

Growing Renewable Energy Portfolio

The listed energy firm ended 2025 with more than 7 gigawatts (GW) of attributable renewable energy capacity across operational, under-construction, and committed projects. By the end of this year, ACEN expects its total operating capacity to exceed 8 GW.

The company maintains renewable energy investments in the Philippines, Australia, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Laos, the United States, Malaysia, Bangladesh and Taiwan.

“As we scale, execution becomes even more critical. Our ability to deliver projects reliably — on time, on budget, and safely — will define the strength and sustainability of our growth,” ACEN President and Chief Executive Officer Francia said during the company’s recent annual stockholders’ meeting.

ACEN is aiming to expand its renewable energy capacity to 20,000 MW by 2030 while pursuing its target of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Despite reporting a 60-percent decline in net income to ₱3.8 billion in 2025 due to weaker electricity prices and lower generation from some wind assets, the company continues to accelerate investments in renewable energy and energy storage projects.
