Aboitiz Renewables Inc., the renewable energy arm of Aboitiz Power Corp. (AboitizPower), has energized its 92.55-megawatt-peak (MWp) San Manuel Solar Power Plant in Pangasinan, adding new capacity to the Luzon grid as the country works to meet rising electricity demand while expanding its renewable energy mix.
The facility, developed in coordination with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, local government units, and host communities, is now supplying clean electricity through the San Manuel 69-kilovolt substation, reinforcing power supply in Luzon and supporting the country’s broader energy transition goals.
Energy Secretary Sharon Garin said the project represents more than an increase in generating capacity, highlighting its long-term benefits for consumers, workers, and future generations.
“Every panel on this 92.5-megawatt solar plant is a promise kept — to the families who deserve stable, affordable electricity; to the workers who built something lasting right here in their own community; and to the next generation who will inherit the energy choices we make today,” Garin said.
Strengthening Energy Security
AboitizPower President and Chief Executive Officer Danel Aboitiz said investments in new power generation remain essential as electricity consumption continues to grow across the country.
“As demand for electricity continues to grow, power generation investments like San Manuel help strengthen our energy system, diversify our energy mix, and support the Philippines’ long-term energy security,” he said.
Aboitiz added that reliable, accessible, and affordable electricity remains vital to national development, noting that the company has steadily expanded its renewable energy portfolio from around 900 megawatts in 2020 to 2.3 gigawatts of attributable net sellable capacity as of February 2026.
The San Manuel facility is the third solar power plant operated by Aboitiz Renewables in Pangasinan, joining the 154-MWp Laoag 1 and 2 Solar Power Plants and the 94-MWp Cayanga-Bugallon Solar Power Plant.
Its completion also raises Aboitiz Renewables’ nationwide operating portfolio to 45 facilities spanning solar, hydropower, geothermal, and battery energy storage assets.
Expanding Renewable Pipeline
Beyond its existing renewable energy fleet, AboitizPower continues to build out its pipeline of clean energy projects.
The company is currently developing more than 1,800 MW of additional solar, hydro, and wind projects as it seeks to further increase renewable capacity in support of the country’s energy transition and long-term supply requirements.
To sustain this expansion, AboitizPower has earmarked ₱62 billion in capital expenditures for 2026, with the bulk of the investments allocated to renewable energy developments and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects.
The latest solar project forms part of the company’s broader strategy to diversify its generation portfolio while helping address growing electricity demand across the country.
Market Leadership
AboitizPower remains the Philippines’ largest power producer, with a total generating capacity of 6,850.63 MW and a 24.3 percent share of the national generation market.
Data from the Energy Regulatory Commission also show the company maintains the largest market share across the country’s three major grids, accounting for 27.53 percent in Luzon, 16.99 percent in the Visayas, and 14.85 percent in Mindanao.
The energization of the San Manuel Solar Power Plant further strengthens the company’s position in the renewable energy sector while contributing additional clean electricity to the Luzon grid. As the government pushes for a more diversified and sustainable energy mix, projects such as San Manuel are expected to play an increasingly important role in improving energy security, supporting economic growth, and expanding access to dependable power for consumers nationwide.
