Hedcor, the run-of-river hydropower arm of AboitizPower, has allocated over P6 million to its partner towns and communities in Benguet. The funds will help strengthen local infrastructure, enhance public services, and support livelihood initiatives across the province.
The company’s commitment extends beyond generating clean, renewable energy from its nine run-of-river hydropower plants in Benguet. Hedcor also fosters established ties with local governments, playing an active role in advancing community welfare and sustainable development.
Aiming to advance community welfare, Hedcor has backed rural electrification, disaster relief, education initiatives, and local medical missions—efforts that have helped strengthen social services and stimulate economic activity in host areas.

Funds amounting to over P2 million were allocated to the Municipality of Sablan, with an additional P1.3 million distributed among three of its barangays. Mayor Alfredo Dacumos Jr. shared that the funding will drive projects aimed at enhancing transportation, boosting market access, and advancing agricultural growth.
He said, “As the fruit basket of Benguet, our priority is agriculture. We aim to establish Sablan as a recognized agricultural hub. These funds will directly support our farmers and help ensure food security for our community.”
La Trinidad and three of its barangays secured P1.3 million in community shares, while the rest was allocated to Tuba, Itogon, and the provincial government of Benguet.
La Trinidad officials plan to channel the funds into extending electricity to 16 underserved barangays, prioritizing remote and upland communities that continue to face power access challenges.
“With Hedcor’s support, we’re powering up these barangays and national highway communities,” explained La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda. “A portion of the funds will also go to scholarship programs for underprivileged youth who cannot afford to attend school.”
Water is the primary focus for the Municipality of Tuba, which intends to invest its community shares in upgrading local water systems to provide residents with clean, reliable drinking water. Additionally, the local government plans to improve infrastructure in flood-prone zones and bolster road safety, particularly during severe weather occurrences.
Noreen Vicencio, Hedcor’s Hydro Operations general manager, highlighted that these community shares go beyond financial assistance. They have a tangible impact on thousands of lives by boosting local economies, enhancing public services, and fostering greater resilience within communities.
“By investing in our host communities, Hedcor is not only delivering renewable energy — it is ensuring that sustainability translates into real, long-term progress for the people of Benguet,” she said.
